iPhone 16 vs iPhone 16 Plus: What’s the Difference
This year, Apple finally showered some love on its vanilla models. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus feature vertically aligned rear cameras with a 48MP Fusion camera and an upgraded 12MP ultra-wide sensor with Autofocus and Macro photography. Both models feature a programmable Action Button and a brand-new Camera Control Button. Also, you’ll find the new A18 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and Apple Intelligence support on both models. Unlike the iPhone 16 Pro Max which differs in display size and offers additional upgrades over the iPhone 16 Pro, the iPhone 16 Plus doesn’t offer any exclusive features over the iPhone 16.
Since the iPhone 16 & 16 Plus are packed with similar features and specifications, you’ll get more or less a similar experience on both models. Beyond the bigger display, you’ll only get to enjoy additional hours of battery life if you opt for the iPhone 16 Plus. Other than that, you won’t find any additional features or performance upgrades. Both models offer similar camera systems, performance, and gaming experience.
Should You Buy an iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus
Now, coming to the most important question- should you buy an iPhone 16 or the iPhone 16 Plus? Well, this completely depends on your preferred display size, personal use case, and budget, of course. Also, certain smaller but important factors weigh up your decision. In my opinion, the device’s weight, pocketability, and in-hand feel are invaluable considerations.
The iPhone 16 starts at $799 for the 128GB model, while the bigger iPhone 16 Plus starts at $899. For this extra $100, you get a bigger display and a better battery life. These upgrades will surely tempt users who love a larger screen to play games, watch videos, and do other stuff. If you’re on this team, the iPhone 16 Plus is made just for you.
Then, there’s a completely different side of the story. While the 6.7-inch looks a tall & handsome beast, it’s not made for everyone. Some people may find the ‌iPhone 16‌ Plus’s size too big and uncomfortably large to hold. If you prefer compact phones, the iPhone 16 would make a better option. If you ask me, I’d always choose the iPhone 16 over the iPhone 16 Plus. I’m more comfortable with the 6.1-inch display size as it gives me a secure in-hand feel and I can easily slide in/out of my pockets without any issues.
Again, the ideal screen size is a personal opinion, and there’s no universal fit for everyone. Interestingly, you’ll not miss out on any features as the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus have almost all features other than battery life. Now go ahead and pick the one that suits your taste and needs.
