The idea that aliens once orbited the Earth is becoming increasingly popular. A fifth of the UK population believe aliens have visited our planet, while seven per cent say they have seen a flying saucer.
In the United States, the number of people who believe in such ideas is even higher than in the United Kingdom. The citizens there believe that the sighting of flying saucers is proof that there is life in space outside of the earth.
The number of those who believe this is 20 percent in the United States in 1996, which has increased to 34 percent in 2022.
However, this belief of people is contrary to reality because we have not seen any proof of existence of space beings till date. More strangely, people believe that the existence of extraterrestrial beings can only be confirmed by their orbiting the earth.
If there is any evidence of extraterrestrial life, it is most likely to be sent to us by a signal from a distant planet.
I wrote an article about this which was published in the journal ‘Proceedings of the International Astronomical Union’. I wrote that belief in theories like aliens orbiting the earth is no longer a unique thing, but has now become a major social problem.
This belief is growing so fast that politicians, at least in America, are reacting to it.
In this regard, the information released by the US Department of Defense has been the center of attention in the country.
People allege that the military forces and a secret group of businessmen are hiding the truth about extraterrestrials for their own vested interests.
Is the truth about aliens being hidden?
More than the arrival of extraterrestrials on Earth, people believe that their existence on our planet is being hidden.
In 2019, a Gallup survey revealed that Americans believe that the US government has a lot of information about flying saucers but is not telling them.
In the last several decades, this trend has not decreased but intensified.
Former US President Jimmy Carter promised during his presidential campaign in 1976 that he would release documents about extraterrestrials. Many years ago, he himself claimed to have seen a flying saucer.
Jimmy Carter may have seen the planet Venus, which is often visible.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also once hinted that she would try to ‘open the Pentagon files’ regarding the existence of extraterrestrials.

On the other hand, former President Donald Trump has said in the past that he would consider whether the ‘Roswell Documents’ could be declassified or not.
These documents talk about the alleged crash of a flying saucer and the alleged recovery of bodies of aliens.
In addition, former President Bill Clinton claimed that he once sent his chief of staff, John Podesta, to the secret US Air Force Base Area 51 to find out if rumors of alien technology being used were true or false. .
It should be noted that John Podesta is one of those people who seems to be passionate about everything related to flying saucers.
Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer was the biggest supporter of releasing documents about aliens and flying saucers. It was he who introduced a bill in 2023 along with three senators after which the Pentagon released documents related to the ‘anomalous phenomenon’.
The Pentagon’s release of these documents began under current President Joe Biden. So far, no one has encountered aliens and no one has even come close to them, but rumors are still being spread about them.
Problems facing society
All these rumors are giving rise to conspiracy theories, due to which people’s trust in democratic institutions is shaken.
There have been repeated calls to infiltrate Area 51 in some way, and the possibility of that happening has increased after the marches on Capitol Hill in 2021.
Rumors about extraterrestrials and flying saucers can also have a negative impact on genuine scientific research and communication.
The partially Disney-owned YouTube channel ‘History’ airs a show about ‘ancient aliens’. The show is now in its 20th season and the channel has more than 1.38 million subscribers.
On the other hand, NASA’s Astrobiology channel has only 20,000 subscribers. It shows that people are less interested in real science and more in entertainment.

Threats to ancient inhabitants
The narrative of aliens orbiting the earth often leads to distortion of history and due to this, attempts are made to hijack the ideas of the ancient inhabitants of the world.
In 1946, Alexander Kazantsov wrote the fictionalized book ‘Explosion: The Story of a Hypothesis’, which is said to have been the first step towards developing conspiracy theories.
In this story, the explosion caused by the meteorite impact at Tunguska was described as activity originating from the alien engine.
Kuzantsu’s story featured a survivor who gains the power to heal the sick and is recruited into their group by the ancient inhabitants of the world.
NASA and the space science community encourage initiatives such as ‘Native Skywatchers’ by First Nations. These initiatives are aimed at keeping the stories related to the stars alive.
Ancient nations have done extensive research on this topic.
But people who believe in the existence of flying saucers often attribute stories of ancient inhabitants to flying saucers and present it as a hidden history.
But in the present time, ideas like the arrival of extraterrestrial beings on the earth were not spread by ancient nations, rather these ideas came in the form of conspiracy theories from regional biased Europe. These theories are used to ‘explain’ that there were urban populations in places like South America before European colonization.
Its purpose is to prove that ancient nations have had advanced technology for decades.
People with such theories believe that there was a time when every ancient population was like Wakanda. Wakanda is a fictional country featured in the Marvel comic books.
If these stories were kept only to the extent of entertainment, it was fine, but it went much further than that.
The narrative of extraterrestrials has led to attempts to rewrite or distort the ancient stories of heaven and hell.
This is not just a problem for ancient nations but for everyone who practices ancient traditions.
Because of this, our past takes a blow. When it comes to our ancestors, we find that the stories attributed to them are very unique, just like the stories about the stars of ancient nations.
For example, the story attributed to the galaxy is about five thousand years old.
Those who believe in extraterrestrials orbiting the earth are often highly critical of these stories.
It is becoming more and more clear that people do not make up stories of aliens coming to the world just for fun, but we are seeing serious and dangerous consequences.
